Objective
The public sector must continuously innovate to adapt to today’s challenges. Digital—and increasingly intelligent—technologies are often viewed as important elements of innovation, as they can streamline work processes, improve service delivery, and strengthen service users’ independence. However, innovation in areas such as work processes, forms of collaboration, and service concepts—either on their own or in combination with new technology—also plays a crucial role in meeting changing service needs.
The research group Service Innovation in the Public Sector studies these innovation initiatives in all phases, from idea development to implementation and evaluation. We start from the premise that changes in one part of the system have consequences elsewhere, not least for employees’ everyday work. Therefore, the bigger picture must be considered as a whole. With this perspective, we support public-sector actors in creating changes that generate value for a broad range of stakeholders.
